COLBY, Kan. — The No. 11 Trojans volleyball team continued its unbeaten run through KJCCC play with a dominant 3–0 sweep (25–22, 25–17, 25–11) over Hutchinson on Saturday (Oct. 11) inside the Colby Event Center.
Colby opened the night with a strong .275 hitting percentage in the first set behind an aggressive front-line attack, then elevated the pace with a .316 mark in the second frame. The Trojans closed out the sweep with a steady .200 performance in the third, finishing the match with a .263 team hitting percentage (47 kills on 118 attempts) while adding 41 assists, 49 digs, and 12 total blocks. The Trojans' depth at the net proved worthy, limiting Hutchinson to negative hitting stretches late in the match.
Sophomore outside hitter Karlotta Kattai paced the offense with 16 kills on .250 hitting, adding a block assist for 16.5 total points. Middle blocker Isadora Carrareto continued her dominant stretch at the net with nine kills on .571 hitting and three total blocks for 11.0 points. Lena Mihaljica added 10 kills and a team-high four block assists, while Isabella Martins contributed five kills on .500 hitting and matched that defensive total with four block assists. Off the bench, Chiara Binda provided an efficient spark with a perfect 2-for-2 hitting line for 1.000 efficiency.
Running the show, sophomore setter Amanda Caputi directed the Trojan offense with 38 assists (12.7 per set), adding nine digs, one service ace, two block assists, and one kill in a complete performance. Defensively, Ella Dridi anchored the back row with 14 digs and chipped in five kills, while Anita Ferri collected 11 digs and provided steady leadership in serve receive. Isabella Byrd rounded out the defensive effort with five digs and clean passing throughout the match.
With the win, Colby improved to 11–0 in KJCCC play, marking the first time in program history the Trojans have opened conference action with 11 consecutive victories. The milestone adds to a strong recent tradition of success, with Colby's best conference finishes in recent years including a 14–2 mark in 2017 and a 12–2 record in 2013. The Trojans now turn their attention to the road, traveling to face Seward County and Dodge City this week before returning home on Wednesday (Oct. 22) for Pink and Sophomore Night inside the Colby Event Center.
