Women’s Track & Field Sets School Record in Relay at Region 6 Championships
The Colby women’s track and field team wrapped up the Region VI Championships at Cowley College, finishing ninth overall in a strong 13-team field with 33 team points and multiple point-scoring performances to close out the meet.
ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Colby women's track and field team wrapped up the Region VI Championships at Cowley College, finishing ninth overall in a strong 13-team field with 33 team points and multiple point-scoring performances to close out the meet.
Leading the way on the track was Beatrice Boakye, who delivered one of the weekend's most consistent performances. She placed 6th in the 200m (24.39) after qualifying 5th in prelims (24.22, NJCAA qualifying mark), and added a standout 3rd-place finish in the 400m with a time of 55.37, also an NJCAA qualifying mark. Her efforts accounted for key scoring points across multiple sprint events and highlighted her versatility throughout the championship weekend.
Faith Vine also had a strong showing in the short sprints, qualifying 7th in the 100m prelims (12.12, qualifying mark) before finishing 7th in the final (12.10). Ashleah Hewitt added depth in both sprint events, running 12.14 in the 100m prelims and 24.98 in the 200m prelims, while Isabelle Gillham contributed across multiple events including the 100m, 200m, and 400m.
In the hurdles, Dekanya Webb placed 6th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.14. Randieunna Jeffery delivered one of the program's most notable performances of the meet in the 400m hurdles, finishing 7th in 1:04.67, an NJCAA qualifying mark and the second-fastest time in school history.
Distance standout Nadine Mcintyre continued her strong season with two scoring performances, finishing 8th in the 1500m (4:59.28) and 2nd in the 5000m (18:16.13, NJCAA qualifying mark), with her 5K time ranking ninth in school history and setting a personal best.
In the 4x100m relay, the team of Faith Vine, Beatrice Boakye, Randieunna Jeffery, and Ashleah Hewitt placed 2nd in 46.08, setting a school record they broke earlier this season and earning a NJCAA qualifying mark in a standout performance for the sprint squad.
In the field events, Karlotta Kattai competed in both the hammer throw (14th, 111-04) and shot put (14th, 31-4.75), while Ragan Mauler placed 14th in the long jump with a mark of 15-8.75.
The Trojans will now look towards the NJCAA Championships set for two weeks from this past weekend.
