Rodeo Wraps Up Fall Season at NWOSU Rodeo

Alva, Okla. — The Colby Community College rodeo team closed out its fall schedule with strong performances at the NWOSU Rodeo, marking the final competition of the semester before the spring season begins next year.

In steer wrestling, Lakoddah Downes continued to be a standout, placing 3rd overall with a 4.5-second run, building on his strong finish earlier this season when he tied for fifth with a 5.2-second wrestle.

The breakaway roping squad once again showcased its depth. Rylie Sexson led the Trojans with a 3.3-second run to finish 32nd, showing improvement from earlier fall rodeos. Goat tying featured Brooklynn Hughes and Dali Reser, who turned in times of 7.7 and 8.4, following earlier-season finishes of 9.5 and 9.9 seconds.

Colby's barrel racers have shown strong consistency and improvement throughout the fall season. Emma Krase led the team with a 13.98-second run to place 36th, followed by Alaura Crockett-Armijo at 14.40 (62nd), Rylie Sexson at 15.02 (83rd), Sakara Smith at 16.13 (104th), and Constance Kautz Johansen at 17.66 (117th).

The rodeo marked the final competition of the fall rodeo season for the Trojans. Colby will return to action this spring with six rodeos on the schedule, as the team looks to build on its fall momentum and push toward postseason qualification.
