The Colby Community College rodeo team returns to competition this week, taking on a full slate of events beginning Thursday (Oct. 30) and continuing through Saturday (Nov. 1). The three-day rodeo will feature morning slack rounds and nightly performances, with Colby athletes entered across multiple events on both the men's and women's sides.
Competition begins Thursday with slack in barrel racing, where Mara Kats, Constance Kautz Johansen, Emma Krase, Sakara Smith, Brooklynn Hughes, and Rylie Sexson will look to set the tone early for the Trojans. Thursday night's performance will feature Brooklynn Hughes and Dali Reser in goat tying, both aiming to carry over momentum from a strong fall campaign.
Action continues Friday with Lakoddah Downes and Kade Homm competing in team roping during the morning slack. In the evening performance, Homm will take on tie down roping, while Downes returns to the arena for steer wrestling. The duo will also reunite with Rylie Sexson and Dali Reser in team roping, giving Colby strong representation across multiple events.
The Trojans will close out the weekend with Saturday slack, highlighted by a talented women's lineup. Alaura Crockett-Armijo will compete in barrel racing, while the breakaway roping field will feature Reser, Andrea Hull Cantillo, Crockett-Armijo, Sexson, and Kats, all capable of contending for top marks.
The Trojans rodeo team will aim to build some momentum as they head into spring season after this rodeo.
