The Colby Trojans equestrian team closed out its fall hunt seat schedule with its final competition of the semester at the UCCS/Denver University Hunt Seat Show this past weekend (Dec. 6–7).
Leading the charge for Colby was Makenzie Meinhardt, whose performances in the Intermediate divisions set the tone for the weekend. On Saturday (Dec. 6), Meinhardt delivered two clean, composed rides to place fifth in both Intermediate Equitation Over Fences and Intermediate Equitation on the Flat. She returned to the arena Sunday (Dec. 7) with added confidence, commanding the course to secure first place in Intermediate Over Fences. Meinhardt added a fourth-place finish on the flat to cap one of her strongest weekends of the season.
Colby's riders continued to excel in the Limit divisions, where the team's depth was on full display. Saturday featured a standout ride from Kairi Quinn, who earned third place in Limit Over Fences, followed closely by Kathryn Rush in fourth after a steady, well-paced trip. Rush later added another fourth-place ribbon in Limit Flat. On Sunday, the division became a highlight for the Trojans as sophomore Sidney Morgan delivered two polished, forward rides to finish second in both Limit Over Fences and Limit Flat, while Rush maintained her consistency with a pair of third-place results.
The Trojans' Novice Equitation on the Flat riders also met the moment. On Saturday, Paige Freidline secured a strong third-place finish, with Kaytelin Shinkle riding to fourth. The duo repeated their reliability on Sunday, with Shinkle moving up to third and Freidline earning fourth.
The weekend concluded with an exclamation point in the Introductory division. Joslyn Kimble, who placed fourth on Saturday after a balanced, well-executed ride, returned to the ring Sunday with renewed focus and delivered a decisive performance to capture first place. Her blue-ribbon ride secured the final individual win of the fall season for Colby and provided a fitting finish to a successful weekend.
As the fall portion of the schedule concludes, the Trojans extend their appreciation for the support shown throughout first-year head coach Kirsten Miessler's debut season. Colby now shifts its focus to the spring campaign, returning to action Jan. 31–Feb. 1 at the UCCS/University of Denver Hunt Seat Show in Colorado Springs.
