The Trojans equestrian team wraps up its fall schedule this weekend (Dec. 6-7) as the Trojans head into their final Hunt Seat competition of the semester. Coming off a productive and consistent stretch of shows, Colby enters the weekend looking to close out the fall on a strong note at the UCCS/Denver Univ. Hunt Seat Show.
Leading the way for the Trojans is Kairi Quinn, who is looking to build on a strong outing in her most recent competition. Quinn has already secured regional qualification in Ranch Riding, Level II Horsemanship, and Novice Hunt Seat. At the last event, she continued that momentum with standout rides in Reining and Open Horsemanship, placing third in Reining and first in Open Horsemanship on Saturday (Oct. 25) before returning Sunday (Oct. 26) to earn fourth in Reining and repeat as the first-place finisher in Open Horsemanship.
Joining her is Sidney Morgan, who has also earned a spot at regionals after qualifying in Novice Hunt Seat. Morgan has been a consistent point-earner for the Trojans throughout the fall and will look to carry that success into this weekend's competition. Intermediate rider Makenzie Meinhardt will once again compete in both Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation on the Flat and Over Fences on Saturday and Sunday, continuing a steady season of strong rides for the sophomore.
In the Limit division, Kathryn Rush and Kairi Quinn will carry double entries on Saturday in both Flat and Fences, while Rush will be joined by Sidney Morgan for Sunday's competition. All three riders have been reliable point-earners for the Trojans, helping anchor the team across the upper-level Hunt Seat classes this fall.
The Novice group brings depth and momentum into the final show, with Paige Freidline and Kaytelin Shinkle returning to competition on both days. Both riders have showcased consistency in recent outings and will look to finish the semester with another strong showing.
Colby's Pre-Novice entries include Serena Muser and Savanah Mertens on Saturday, followed by Lauren Bowles and Leigha Fellhoelter on Sunday. Each rider has shown marked improvement throughout the fall and will look to cap the semester with continued progress.
Rounding out the roster are introductory riders Hailey Bolyard and Joslyn Kimble, who will represent Colby in the Introductory Hunter Seat Equitation division on both days. The pair has continued to grow with every show, providing a strong foundation for Colby's depth moving into the spring.
As the Trojans wrap up the fall portion of their season, the team will shift its focus to building momentum for spring competition. Colby returns to action in late January, where the riders will look to carry their fall progress into a strong start to the spring semester.
