The Colby Community College equestrian team is preparing for its next competition in Wyoming as the Trojans look to build on a strong start to the fall season. Following an impressive showing at the Colby Fall Classic, the team will travel to Laramie for the University of Wyoming Hunter Seat Show, featuring a deep and competitive lineup across multiple divisions.
The Trojans enter the weekend riding high after earning Reserve High Point Team honors at the Colby Fall Classic (Oct. 4–5), highlighted by multiple first-place performances.
Sophomore Kairi Quinn will represent Colby in both Ranch Riding and Level II Horsemanship, entering the event with momentum after being named the Overall High Point Rider at the season-opening Colby Fall Classic. Quinn's performance earned regional qualification in both events and has set the tone for a promising season ahead.
This weekend marks the Trojans' debut in Hunt Seat competition, as they transition into the English discipline for the first time this season. Makenzie Meinhardt will represent Colby in both Intermediate Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences and on the Flat, while Kathryn Rush is set to compete in Limit Hunter Seat Equitation over Fences and on the Flat.
The Trojans Level I Horsemanship division will feature Savanah Mertens, Sidney Morgan, and Paige Freidline, all of whom delivered top-five finishes in the opening show. In Rookie A Horsemanship, Lauren Bowles and Serena Muser are set to compete, while Makenzie Meinhardt, Kathryn Rush, and Leigha Fellhoelter will represent Colby in Rookie B Horsemanship. The Beginner Horsemanship group includes Joslyn Kimble, Hailey Bolyard, and Sarah Carey, each coming off strong rides earlier this month.
Next up, the equestrian team will travel to Colorado State University for the Western Show next weekend (Oct. 25–26), looking to add to their early-season success.
