Lady Trojans Battle at OSU Jamboree
The Colby Community College women's cross country team finished ninth at the Oklahoma State University Jamboree Sept. 24 in Stillwater, Okla. in a field with more than 20 colleges and universities.
"Overall, I continue to see our confidence growing each and every time we race," said head coach Cameron Rieth. "We are a little beat up right now but our focus won't change from our daily grind of doing the little things right and taking care of each other."
The Lady Trojans entered the race ranked fourteenth in the national polls. On the 5K course at OSU they placed fourth among NJCAA schools and finished just six points behind Cowley County, the No. 6-ranked team nationally.
"I am pleased in the way we raced. The Jamboree has great competition and Oklahoma State's course is one of the toughest we will run on all year, so during the race you have to make a decision whether that is going to affect how you compete."
Freshman Winnie Kibet set a personal best, finishing twelfth overall at 19:30.5. Sophomores Sarah Myers (21:08.3) and Vibian Chemeli (21:08.9) completed the top three for Colby.
The Lady Trojans have a break in competition before resuming Oct. 8 at the Fort Hays State Tiger Open in Victoria.
