No. 9 Trojans Earn 20th Win of the Season With Four-Set Victory at Dodge City
The No. 9-ranked Colby Community College volleyball team continued its strong conference campaign Saturday night, earning its 20th win of the season with a four-set victory over Dodge City Community College
DODGE CITY, Kan. — The No. 9-ranked Colby Community College volleyball team continued its strong conference campaign Saturday (Oct. 18) night, earning its 20th win of the season with a four-set victory over Dodge City Community College (25-23, 24-26, 25-16, 25-16).
The Trojans (20-4, 12-1 KJCCC) displayed efficiency and balance on both sides of the ball, hitting .297 as a team with 46 kills, 10 aces, and 16 total blocks. Colby's front line dictated play at the net while the serving unit kept Dodge City under pressure throughout the match.
Sophomore outside hitter Karlotta Kattai once again led the charge, posting a match-high 15 kills on .357 hitting, along with four aces, team high 15 digs, and 19 total points. The Estonian native now has 317 kills on the season, averaging just over 4.0 per set, and continues to rank among the most productive hitters in the KJCCC.
Fellow outside hitter Sameera Moon added consistent support with 10 kills and two block assists, finishing with a .318 attack percentage.
In the middle, Chiara Binda delivered one of her most complete outings of the year, tallying eight kills on .467 hitting, to go with three service aces and five block assists. Isadora Carrareto added another dominant performance at the net with six kills (.455), three aces, and three blocks. The sophomore continues to pace the Trojans in total blocks with 67 on the season, averaging 1.00 per set.
Running the offense, setter Amanda Caputi distributed the ball efficiently, recording 39 assists, while contributing five block assists, two kills, and a .400 hitting percentage. Caputi has now totaled 913 assists this season, moving closer to the program's all-time season top-10 list, chasing Maisy Munson's mark of 1,088 career assists. She currently averages 11.27 assists per set, the best assist rate in the nation.
Defensively, Lena Mihaljica had 10 digs and a pair of blocks, while libero Anita Ferri added five digs and two assists. Ferri continues to lead the team defensively with 243 total digs on the year.
With the victory, Colby solidifies its position atop the KJCCC standings, improving to 20-5 overall and 12-1 in conference play. The Trojans still hold a crucial edge over Barton Community College (10-1), whom they defeated earlier at home this season.
The Trojans looks to carry their momentum into the final stretch of the regular season when the Trojans return home for Sophomore Night and Pink Out Night on Wednesday (Oct. 22) at the Colby Event Center. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and pack the Colby Event Center as the Trojans take on a surging Butler squad, which has won seven of its last ten matches.
