Boakye, Hurdles Crew Lead Trojans to Strong Start at West Texas Relays

MIDLAND, TX - The Colby Trojans women's track and field team joined the men in opening the outdoor season at the West Texas Relays this weekend, turning in a series of strong performances highlighted by top-three finishes and marks that rank among the best in program history.
Leading the way for the Trojans was Beatrice Boakye, who delivered a standout showing in the sprints. Boakye placed third in the 200 meters with a time of 25.25 and followed it up with a fifth-place finish in the 400 meters, clocking 55.65 to cap an impressive double.
In the hurdles, Colby saw two athletes etch their names into the record books. Dekanya Webb placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.76, the second-fastest mark in school history. Randieunna Jeffery added a third-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.79), a time that ranks fifth all-time for the program.
Jeffery and Webb also teamed up with Ashleah Hewitt and Isabelle Gillham in the 4x400 relay, where the group posted a time of 4:25.76. Gillham also competed individually in the open 400 meters, finishing 14th (1:09.25).
In the 200 meters, Regan Mauler added depth with a 19th-place finish (28.34) and later competed in the long jump, where she placed ninth with a mark of 16-2.25. Ella Clark followed in 11th (15-6.25).
The distance group was led by Nadine McIntyre, who placed sixth in the 1500 meters with a time of 5:04.38, while Blanca Gallegos added an 18th-place finish (7:03.43).
In the field events, Karlotta Kattai put together a strong all-around performance. She placed fifth in the shot put (35-8.0), seventh in the discus (85-9.0), and sixth in the hammer throw (117-0.0), contributing valuable points across multiple throwing events.
Overall, the Trojans opened the outdoor season with a balanced effort across track and field, highlighted by multiple top finishes.
