COLBY, Kan. — The Colby Community College men's wrestling team begins the season holding its place among the nation's best, earning a tie for 18th in the first NJCAA rankings. The Trojans are led by returning national qualifiers Cah'Mari Johnson and Luis Vasquez, both of whom earned individual national rankings in their respective weight classes.
At 165 pounds, Johnson climbed to No. 3 nationally, adding 10 team points in the poll after a strong start to the 2025–26 season. A returning All-American, Johnson has quickly established himself as one of the top contenders in his division, combining explosive offense with veteran composure on the mat. At 125 pounds, Vasquez is ranked No. 8 in the nation, contributing three team points to Colby's total. After qualifying for nationals last season, Vasquez has continued to impress early this fall.
The Trojans' No. 18 national ranking reflects both the individual success of their returning leaders and the continued growth of the program under Head Coach Joe Cornejo. With a mix of proven veterans and promising newcomers, Colby looks poised to make some noise on the national stage this season. They return to wrestke toimorro at home against Otero at 6 PM
