Men’s Wrestling Opens Season Strong at Falcon Open
The Colby Community College men’s wrestling team kicked off its 2025-26 season at the Falcon Open in Wichita on Saturday turning in a solid first performance. The Trojans finished the day with a combined record of 26-32, highlighted by eight falls, seven tech falls, and two major decisions.
WICHITA, Kan. — The Colby Community College men's wrestling team kicked off its 2025-26 season at the Falcon Open in Wichita on Saturday (Nov. 2) turning in a solid first performance. The Trojans finished the day with a combined record of 26-32, highlighted by eight falls, seven tech falls, and two major decisions.
It was a strong start compared to last year's opening tournament, with several wrestlers showing real potential for the season ahead. Salvador Barintas led the way wrestling unattached, going 5-2 with one fall, two tech falls, one major decision and a decision win. Talon Suttles also made a statement with a 4-2 record, picking up one fall, two tech falls and a decision victory.
Luis Vasquez turned in a 3-2 performance that included a fall, a tech fall, and a major decision, while Kash Alley went 3-2 with two falls and a decision. (Robert) Bob Tatum added a 3-2 record with two falls to round out a strong showing for the Trojans.
Additional wins came from Tevin Jackson (1-2, one tech fall), Isaiah Giron (2-2, one tech fall and one decision), Daniel Tauyan (2-2, two decisions), Jovanny Arellanes (1-2, one fall) and Karim Saifullin (1-2, one decision).
The Trojans had a solid improvement across the board and showcased potential for this year's squad. With this strong start, Colby looks to continue building momentum as the season gets underway with a home dual against Otero & Newman on Tuesday (Nov. 4).
