Trojans competed at the Grand View Open

GRIMES, Iowa - The Colby Community College wrestling team competed at the Grand View Open, held at the Ignite Sports Complex in Grimes, IA. The tournament is one of the larger ones in the country, with over 50 teams from all divisions and close to 700 wrestlers. the Trojans had 6 wrestlers that won at least 2 matches on the day, Tevin Jackson and Luis Vasquez each went 2-2 on the day in the 125 division.

Kash Alley and Ethan Anderson added 2 wins each in their respective 165lb and 197lb divisions. Rounding out the day Nicholas Martinez as well as Kevaun Jones both went 2-2 on the afternoon wrestling in the Heavyweight division. Alec Schmuck (157) and Hunter Sanchez (125) were each able to leave Iowa with a win as well.

"It was a great experience for all of our guys, the in-your-face grind it out style is something you don't see every day. This tournament was a great opportunity for us to get exposed to elite level competition, as well as gauge individual progression." said Coach Cornejo.

Next up the Trojans will compete at the Younes Hospitality Open hosted by University of Nebraska Kearney on Saturday, November 23 in Kearney, Nebraska.
