Ulmer Earns First-Team Honors, Hultgren Named Honorable Mention on All-KJCCC Team
Two members of the Colby Trojans women's basketball were recognized for their outstanding seasons as the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference announced its postseason women’s basketball awards on Thursday.
COLBY, Kan. - Two members of the Colby Trojans women's basketball were recognized for their outstanding seasons as the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference announced its postseason women's basketball awards on Thursday (March 12).
Sophomore Desiree Ulmer was named First-Team All-KJCCC after leading the Trojans in multiple categories throughout the season. The Fountain, Colorado native averaged 14.6 points per game while shooting an efficient 48.8 percent from the field. Ulmer also led the team on the glass, pulling down 6.9 rebounds per game.
Ulmer delivered several standout performances during the season, recording six games with 20 or more points, including two 30-point performances. One of her biggest outings came in a signature win over No. 2 ranked Dodge City Conquistadors, where she scored 33 points while shooting nearly 70 percent from the field to help lift the Trojans to the upset victory. She also posted another 30-point performance against Pratt Beavers in the opening round of the conference tournament last weekend. Ulmer's consistent scoring and leadership played a major role in the Trojans' success throughout the season.
Freshman Olivia Hultgren earned All-KJCCC Honorable Mention honors after a strong debut season for Colby. The Norrköping, Sweden native averaged 10.0 points per game while appearing in 26 games. She added 2.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game, emerging as one of the team's reliable scoring options.
Hultgren made an immediate impact early in the season, scoring in double figures in each of her first three games with the Trojans. One of her top performances came against Fort Hays Tech NW Tigers, when she poured in 24 points to help spark an overtime comeback victory. With a strong freshman campaign now complete, Hultgren is expected to be a key piece for the Trojans moving forward.
