GOODLAND, Kan. — The Trojans women's basketball team delivered a complete performance on Saturday (Jan. 10), rolling past Fort Hays Tech Northwest 63–38 to secure a convincing road victory after Colby set the tone early.
The Trojans jumped out to a 20–7 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. The ladies controlled the game from start to finish, leading as many as 27 points in the fourth quarter.
Dessirae Ulmer led the Trojans offensively, scoring 13 points on an efficient 5-of-9 shooting while adding six rebounds. Jera Kruleski followed with 14 points, knocking down two three-pointers and going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Olivia Hultgren chipped in a double-digit effort with 10 points while also contributing seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals, filling the stat sheet.
Colby's depth proved to be a difference-maker, as the Trojans outscored Fort Hays Tech Northwest 19–14 in bench points. Piri Lewis provided a strong spark off the bench with six points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Adrian Neal added six points on a pair of three-pointers. Amisha Russell contributed seven points and three rebounds in extended minutes.
Defensively, Colby was locked in from the opening tip. The Trojans held Fort Hays Tech Northwest to just 23.5 percent shooting from the field and 17.2 percent from beyond the arc. Colby also forced 21 turnovers and turned those miscues into 15 points. The Trojans dominated the rebounding battle 40–29, including 11 offensive boards that led to nine second-chance points.
With the win, Colby improves to 8–8 (5–5 KJCCC). The Trojans will look to build on the momentum as conference action continues next Wednesday (Jan. 14) in Garden City.
