The Colby Community College women's basketball team enters the first week of KJCCC action sitting at 3–3 overall, looking to reset with two conference matchups on the schedule. The Trojans host Independence on Wednesday (Nov. 19) inside the Colby Event Center, then travel to Liberal on Saturday (Nov. 22) to take on Seward County.
Through six games, Colby is averaging 61.2 points per contest while shooting 37.2 percent from the field. Sophomore Adrian Neal leads the team offensively with 9.0 points per game while Elia Ando has provided a major spark off the bench, adding 7.0 points per game while leading the Trojans on the glass with 6.2 rebounds per outing. Paishintz Booker continues to be the team's table-setter at 2.0 assists per game, with Regina Pasti contributing 1.2 assists and 2.3 rebounds per contest.
Independence enters Wednesday's conference opener with an identical 3–3 record. After dropping their first two games of the season, the Pirates responded with three straight wins before falling to No. 11 New Mexico Junior College. Mimi White leads Independence with 13.2 points per game, while Danaiya Stillwell-Smith also averages double figures at 10.0 points and anchors the interior with a team-high 7.0 rebounds per game. Jade Oliney runs the point, averaging 4.2 assists.
Seward County has started the season 5–1 with their only loss coming last week in an overtime battle, also against No. 11 New Mexico Junior College. The Lady Saints boast one of the most explosive offenses in the league, averaging 87.3 points per game and shooting 41.3 percent from the field. Sophomore Avery Marchino leads the way with 22.8 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. She is joined by two additional double-figure scorers in Kimora Fagan (16.0 ppg) and A'Neya Chambers (10.5 ppg). Grace Posch guides the offense with 5.3 assists per game just as a freshman.
Despite dropping their last three, the Trojans remain confident and hungry as conference play begins. With two challenging matchups on deck, Colby looks to reestablish momentum heading into the heart of the season.
