HESSTON, Kan. - The Colby Community College women's basketball team won 56-32 on the road at Hesston College, moving to 4-1 on the season. The Trojans played tough on the defensive end, which gave them room to breathe as they overcame a poor shooting game.
"We jumped on them early, finishing the first quarter 17-2. Good thing we do play solid defensive because we needed it, as we couldn't buy a basket for long stretches. We got good shots and open looks but just played a little out of rhythm for most of the game. If your defense will travel, you always have a chance to get the win."
The Trojans return home for their last non-conference game on Monday (18th), hosting Lamar CC in the second game of their home-and-home series this season. After that, the grueling Jayhawk Conference race begins.
