Lady Trojans fall to ranked Hutchinson
CCC can't overcome slow start in 90-46 loss.
The Colby Community College women's basketball team ran into a tough Hutchinson team Wednesday night as the No. 9 Blue Dragons rolled to a 90-46 win at the Colby Community Building.
Despite the score, there were a few bright spots for Colby. Chasten Buckner had a game-high 22 points. Dezyree Morales added nine points and eight rebounds. The Lady Trojans also rebounded well by gathering 47, just three fewer than Hutch.
However, the significant difference was turnovers. The Lady Trojans were hampered by 31 compared to Hutch's 11, which resulted in nearly 30 more shot attempts for the Blue Dragons.
Colby drops to 1-5 in the Jayhawk Conference and 3-7 overall. They are on the road Saturday in Concordia for a 6 p.m. start against Cloud County Community College (4-2, 7-2).
