Rodeo Hits The Road to Hays For Spring Rodeo
Colby's rodeo athletes are set to compete this week at Fort Hays State University’s 60th Annual Rodeo, held April 16–18, 2026 at the Ellis County Fairgrounds in Hays, KS.
Colby's rodeo athletes are set to compete this week at Fort Hays State University's 60th Annual Rodeo, held April 16–18, 2026 at the Ellis County Fairgrounds in Hays, Kansas.
The three-day event features two evening performances on Thursday (April 16) and Friday (April 17) at 7:00 p.m., a Saturday (April 18) night short go finals at 7:00 p.m., and morning slack performances on Friday and Saturday beginning at 9:00 a.m.
The Trojans will be represented across multiple events throughout the weekend, beginning with Thursday night's opening performance. Brooklynn Hughes will compete in goat tying, while Alaura Crockett will take part in breakaway roping.
Friday morning slack will feature a strong group of Colby competitors, including Brooklynn Hughes, Mara Kats, and Emma Krase in barrel racing. Lakoddah Downes will compete in tie-down roping, while Mara Kats will also return to the arena in breakaway roping.
Friday night's performance will feature Lakoddah Downes in steer wrestling and Kade Homm in tie-down roping, while Alaura Crockett will return to action in barrel racing.
The weekend will conclude with Saturday slack, where Sadee Adamson and Dali Reser will compete in breakaway roping. The team roping duo of Lakoddah Downes and Kade Homm will also represent Colby in the final session of the weekend.
