Rodeo Completes Weekend at Fort Scott
The Colby Trojans rodeo team competed this past weekend at the Fort Scott Community College Rodeo, highlighted by a strong performance from Brooklynn Hughes in the barrel race.
FORT SCOTT, Kan. – The Colby Trojans rodeo team competed this past weekend (March 13-14) at the Fort Scott Community College Rodeo, highlighted by a strong performance from Brooklynn Hughes in the barrel race.
Hughes opened the weekend strong with a 14.32-second run, placing her inside the top 12 after the first day of competition. After the remaining barrel racers completed their runs on Saturday, Hughes finished the rodeo 26th overall in a competitive field.
Other Trojans competing in the rodeo included Emma Krase, who posted a 15.07 in barrel racing, while Mara Kats (18.99) and Alaura Crockett (19.96) also competed in the event.
In other events, several Colby competitors recorded no-times during the weekend, including Kade Homm in tiedown roping, Dali Reser, Alaura Crockett, and Sadee Adamson in breakaway roping, Lakoddah Downes in steer wrestling, Downes and Homm in team roping, and Hughes in goat tying.
The Trojans will continue their spring rodeo schedule as the season moves forward to Garden City, set to begin in a couple weeks on Friday (March 27).
