Trojans Saddle Up for OSU Cowboy Stampede in Stillwater
The Colby Community College rodeo team is back in action this week as they travel to Stillwater, OK to compete in the prestigious OSU Cowboy Stampede hosted by Oklahoma State University.
The Colby Community College rodeo team is back in action this week (Oct. 2–4) as they travel to Stillwater, OK to compete in the prestigious OSU Cowboy Stampede hosted by Oklahoma State University.
The three-day rodeo opens Thursday evening and continues with slack rounds Friday and Saturday mornings, followed by nightly performances. The top competitors will return for the championship short go on Saturday. With entries spread across nearly every timed event, the Trojans are poised to showcase their talent against a good competition pool.
Sophomore Lakoddah Downes will represent Colby in steer wrestling, while the women's team features a loaded lineup in multiple events. Dali Reser and Brooklynn Hughes are set to compete in goat tying, and the barrel racing contingent will include Rylie Sexson, Constance Kautz Johansen, Alaura Lea Crockett-Armijo, Mara Kats, and Broklynn Hughes.
Breakaway roping will see one of the Trojans' largest groups, with Reser, Crockett-Armijo, Hull Cantillo, Sexson, Sadee Adamson, and Kats all entered. On the men's side, Kade Homm will compete in tie down roping.
The Trojans will also be well represented in team roping. Downes and Homm will join forces in the men's draw, while Sexson and Reser will compete together in the women's division.
With 13 athletes entered across seven events, the Trojans aim to build some momentum and continue pushing for top finishes as the fall campaign keeps rolling.
