NIRA Rodeo Coming Sept. 12-14
More than 400 contestants are expected
Colby, Kan. – Approximately 450 contestants from 17 colleges across Kansas and Oklahoma will converge at the E.L. Garrett Arena in the Thomas County Fairgrounds for the annual Colby Community College National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) Rodeo on Sept. 12 through 14. The competition begins at 7 p.m. every night, with the top 12 in each event vying for top honors on the 14th.
The event will feature a variety of traditional rodeo events. Men's competitions include bareback bronc riding, tie-down roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, and bull riding. Women will compete in breakaway roping, goat tying, team roping, and barrel racing.
Tickets for the event can be purchased at Vanderbilt's of Colby or at the gate. Adult tickets cost $10, while children's tickets (ages 6-12) are $5. Admission is free for children under five.
