HOBBS, N.M. - The Colby Trojans men's track and field team closed out the 2026 NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships with a pair of All-American performances, multiple school records, and a 23rd-place finish in the final team standings among 36 teams from across the nation.
Leading the way for the Trojans were standout sophomores Javano Bridgewater and Kenan Delestre, who both delivered major performances on the national stage against some of the top junior college athletes in the country.
Bridgewater put together one of the top sprinting weekends in program history, highlighted by an All-American finish in the 400 meters. After breaking the school record he broke earlier this season in preliminaries with a blazing 46.24 to narrowly miss the finals' top eight qualifying time by placement before advancing on time, Bridgewater returned in the championship race and earned All-American honors with a seventh-place finish in 47.29.
The sophomore also continued his record-breaking season in the 200 meters, clocking another school-record time of 20.69 to place 18th overall nationally. Walter Parker joined Bridgewater in the event and finished 35th in 22.09 while also competing in the 200-meter sprint field.
Distance standout Kenan Delestre once again proved himself among the nation's elite distance runners with an All-American performance in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Delestre placed third overall with a time of 9:34.06 to earn podium honors and All-American status, becoming a two-time All-American in the steeplechase after also earning the honor last season. He later narrowly missed adding a second All-American finish after placing ninth in the 5,000 meters at 15:21.09, finishing just one spot outside the top-eight cutoff for All-American recognition.
The Trojans also saw strong performances throughout the middle-distance and relay events. Alexandre LeRoy placed 13th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.71, while Thomas Calas crossed in 2:00.64. In the 10,000 meters, Japhet Kiprono finished 11th nationally after posting a time of 33:12.26 against a deep championship field.
The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Redith Stubbs, Leonardo Clement, Harley McPherson, and Irad Mixon ran 3:19.92 to place 17th overall while also moving into eighth all-time in Colby program history.
In the field events, Jared Cox recorded a throw of 142-11 in the discus to finish 18th overall, while Tamario Petty placed 25th in the hammer throw with a mark of 137-4.
The national championship meet capped off a strong season for the Trojans men's squad, highlighted by two All-American performances from Bridgewater and Delestre, multiple school records, and several athletes continuing to climb the Colby all-time performance lists on the national stage.
