Men's Track & Field Post Strong Effort at Coyote Classic
Colby’s men’s track and field competed at the Coyote Classic in Salina, KS this weekend, turning in a solid overall team effort with several top-5 finishes across all events.
SALINA, Kan. - Colby's men's track and field competed at the Coyote Classic in Salina, KS this weekend (April 17–18), turning in a solid overall team effort with several top-5 finishes across all events.
On the track, Redith Stubbs led the way in the 400m with a strong third-place finish in 49.82. Finley Beaven also had a productive meet, placing 17th in the 100m (11.32) and coming back to finish 6th in the 200m with a time of 22.98. In the 400m, Leonardo Clement (50.43), Jonathan Mader (51.60), Jairus Turrbiates (51.63), and Walter Parker (51.23) all contributed strong efforts in a competitive field. Harley McPherson added a 4th-place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.89.
In the relays, Colby picked up two strong performances. The 4x100m relay team of Javano Bridgewater, Walter Parker, Finley Beaven, and Harley McPherson placed 3rd overall with a time of 42.66, marking the 8th-best 4x100m time in program history. The 4x400m relay team of Leonardo Clement, Javano Bridgewater, Jairus Turrbiates, and Walter Parker placed 2nd with a time of 3:20.60, earning another top finish on the track.
In the field events, Jared Cox led the way in the discus with a 4th-place finish at 145-3.00, followed by Tamario Petty (13th, 123-8.00), Sumner Homolka (16th, 117-1.00), and Deangelo Delancy (22nd, 97-4.00). In the hammer throw, Tamario Petty placed 8th (134-10.00), while Jared Cox finished 14th (130-10.00) and Deangelo Delancy 27th (94-2.00). Homolka also delivered a strong javelin performance, placing 3rd overall with a mark of 158-10.
Overall, the Trojans put together a steady team performance with multiple top-five finishes and strong relay showings, highlighted by two top-three relay results and a podium finish in the 400m. Colby now turns its attention to the Alex Francis Classic in Hays on Thursday (April 23) as they continue the outdoor season.
