Men's Basketball 11th in KJCCC Preseason Poll
The Colby Community College men’s basketball team enters the 2025-26 season 11th in the KJCCC Preseason Poll. After finishing 17-14 overall and 12-12 in the KJCCC last season, the Trojans look to make a deeper push in the postseason following their Region VI Tournament first round appearance.
COLBY, Kan. — The Colby Community College men's basketball team enters the 2025-26 season 11th in the KJCCC Preseason Poll released Thursday (Oct. 23). After finishing 17-14 overall and 12-12 in the KJCCC last season, the Trojans look to make a deeper push in the postseason following their Region VI Tournament first round appearance.
Leading the charge for Colby are returning sophomores D.J. Cason and Nana Keutcha, two key contributors from last year's lineup. Keutcha, a consistent inside presence, started 22 games in 2024–25, shooting over 50 percent from the field while averaging 5.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, and nearly one block per game. Cason, known for his perimeter shooting and versatility, appeared in 31 contests with nine starts, averaging 7.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assist per game. He was one of the conference's most efficient shooters, knocking down 49 percent from the field and 49 percent from three-point range on 92 attempts.
Entering his fourth year leading the Trojans, Stanford has established a culture centered on hard work, accountability, and growth. The values have propelled Stanford's program to new levels of competitiveness within the already competitive KJCCC.
The KJCCC Division I Men's Basketball preseason poll projects another competitive season ahead, with Coffeyville Community College leading the way after earning 162 points and six first-place votes. Cowley College and Barton tied for second with 142 points each, followed by Hutchinson in fourth (123) and Butler in fifth (95). Conference play begins November 19, with postseason action set for March 7–14 and the NJCAA Division I National Tournament taking place March 21–28 in Hutchinson, KS.
The Trojans will officially open the 2025-26 season at home on Saturday (Nov. 1) when they host Sterling JV in their first regular-season matchup of the year.
