In their first official Jayhawk Conference matchup, the Colby Community College Trojans topped the Northwest Kansas Technical College Mavericks 82-58 Wednesday night at the Community Building.
The 58 points for Northwest Tech, whose basketball program entered the Jayhawk Conference in 2018, was a season low.
Colby Head Coach Rusty Grafel felt the Trojans were ready for the challenge.
"This was our best defensive game of the season so far," he said. "We are trying to put consistent possessions and games together as a team so our guys can understand how we can continue to get better!"
"Javion had his best game of the year and always energizes us with his extra effort, and Moses also was a huge presence for us and had his best performance thus far.
"Anytime you can have five guys in double figures and hold a team to under 60, there are a lot of positives you can build on leading into your next game," Grafel said.
The Trojans are in Great Bend Saturday for a 7:30 start with Barton Community College (15-2, 6-2).
