Trojans win again
CCC holds off Coffeyville 63-60
The Colby Community College men's basketball team beat Coffeyville Community College 63-60 at the Colby Community Building Thursday night. It marked the first time in school history the Trojans have beat the Red Ravens.
"An ugly game, but we will take an ugly win any day," said Trojans head coach Rusty Grafel. "We could never seem to get into a good flow on the floor and some of that was how Coffeyville was executing their defense. But overall it was a great win for us and hopefully success for this team will keep coming."
Turnovers plagued both teams in the first half. Coffeyville led 21-14 around the 10 minute mark but by halftime Colby tied it at 31.
Colby's Gabriel Gyamfi posted his ninth double-double of the season with 11 points and 14 rebounds. Ajou Deng (14), Caleal Walker (11) and Shaq Athie (13) also led the Trojans in scoring.
The Trojans improve their record to 9-13 in the Jayhawk Conference and 13-13 overall. Saturday they travel to Neosho Community College (6-16, 9-17) for an 8 p.m. tip in search of a season sweep. Jan. 2 the Trojans held off the Panthers 76-71 in Colby.
