2017 off to a good start for Trojan men
Shorthanded Colby ends five-game skid, wins 99-54 over Northwest Tech JV
The Colby Community College men's basketball team began the new year with a convincing 99-54 win over the Northwest Kansas Technical College Junior Varsity Monday night at the Colby Community Building. The win ended a five-game losing streak for the Trojans.
"It was a good game to get us back into playing mode," said head coach Rusty Grafel. "We are a little shorthanded because of injuries, but we found a way to get the job done."
Just seven Trojans saw action. Six scored in double figures, led by Shaq Athie with 22 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. David Hall also had a double-double, notching 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Colby improves their record to 5-8 overall. They resume Jayhawk Conference action Wednesday night as they host Neosho County for an 8 p.m. start at the Colby Community Building.
