Trojans Livestock Judging Wrap Up Busy Week of Competition Across Kansas and Oklahoma
The Colby Community College livestock judging team hit the road to open its fall season, gaining valuable experience while sorting through top-notch livestock across Kansas and Oklahoma.
The Colby Community College livestock judging team hit the road to open its fall season, gaining valuable experience while sorting through top-notch livestock across Kansas and Oklahoma.
The Trojans began their competition slate Sunday (Oct. 5) at the Flint Hills Contest in Hutchinson before traveling to Kiowa on Tuesday (Oct. 7) to officiate the South Barber Contest. Along the way to their next contest, the team made several practice stops to evaluate outstanding livestock, with special thanks to the Jahay family, Justin Goodno, BJ Duvall, Larry Core, and Hobbs Show Lambs for their hospitality and support.
The trip concluded with a strong showing at the Cimarron Classic in Stillwater, OK, where both novice and professional team members represented Colby well on Saturday (Oct. 11). Notably, Jessica Jahay earned multiple finishes in the novice division, placing 12th in Sheep/Goats, 29th in Reasons, 31st in Cattle, and 32nd Overall, respectively.
Head Coach Emma Eldridge said the trip was an important early-season opportunity for the team to gain experience in front of high-quality livestock and build confidence heading into upcoming contests. The next contest set for the team will be the Mid-American Contest and Show down in Hutchinson, KS at the end of October.
