MILL SPRINGS, NC - Two members of the Colby Trojans equestrian team, Kairi Quinn and Sidney Morgan, traveled to the Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Springs, NC, to compete at the 2026 Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) National Championship from May 1–3.
Both riders worked hard all season to earn their spots and compete against some of the best in the nation. Quinn qualified for IHSA Nationals in the AQHA Individual Level II Horsemanship as well as the NRHA/AQHA Individual Ranch Riding, while Morgan qualified in the AQHA Individual Level I Horsemanship.
Competing in highly competitive classes, the Trojans showcased their strengths and talents, earning top-three and top-10 finishes throughout the weekend.
Quinn captured a third-place finish in the AQHA Individual Level II Horsemanship aboard a horse named Pickles, generously provided by the University of Findlay. In the NRHA/AQHA Individual Ranch Riding class, she rode a seasoned collegiate ranch horse from Middle Tennessee State University, Penny, and finished her season with an eighth-place result.
Morgan displayed her strong horsemanship skills with a seventh-place finish in the AQHA Individual Level I Horsemanship on a horse named Venus, also part of the University of Findlay program.
"These girls have proven themselves to have a great work ethic and have given it their all to get to where they are," said head coach Kirsten Miessler. "I am very proud of how they showcased their skills at Tryon and gave it everything they had. To place this high at a national level is very impressive and something to be proud of."
Congratulations to the sophomores on the equestrian team for finishing their CCC show careers with such great success!
