Equestrian Excels at CSU Western Show, Sends Two to Western Semifinals
This past Saturday marked the final regular-season western show of the 2026 season for the Colby equestrian team, highlighted by two standout performers advancing to New Mexico State.
FORT COLLINS, Colo. — This past Saturday (Feb. 21) marked the final regular-season western show of the 2026 season for the Colby equestrian team, highlighted by two standout performers advancing to New Mexico State for the Western semifinals set for March 21-22.
In the Reining competition, Kairi Quinn turned in an impressive ride, finishing in 2nd place. The Level I Horsemanship class featured strong performances from Sidney Morgan, who claimed 1st place, and Savanah Mertens, who finished 4th, showcasing their skill and composure in the saddle.
The Rookie B Horsemanship class highlighted the Trojans' depth, with Leigha Fellhoelter earning 2nd place, Kaytelin Shinkle finishing 3rd, and Kathryn Rush placing 6th. Makenzie Meinhardt also competed admirably, contributing to the team's overall strong showing. In Rookie A Horsemanship, Serena Muser claimed 1st place, followed closely by Lauren Bowles in 2nd, demonstrating the dedication and progress of the team's newer members.
The Beginner Horsemanship class saw Joslyn Kimble finish in 3rd place, adding another podium finish for the Trojans.
A special congratulations goes out to Kairi Quinn and Sidney Morgan, who will advance to the semifinals at New Mexico State on March 21–22.
The Colby Community College equestrian team looks forward to finishing the season strong, building on the growth and success the program has demonstrated throughout 2026. The team will now look forward to the Western Semi Final show set for March 21-22.
