Hunt Riders Qualify for IHSA Championship
Colby Community College equestrian team members Elizabeth Wright, Nalleli Rollf, and Maleia Powell had standout performances in the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) Hunt Seat Zone 8 Championships hosted by Stanford University on April 5 in Palo Alto, Calif.
The top two individual riders from each class advance to the 2025 IHSA National Championship on May 2-4 at Tryon International in Mill Spring, N.C. Competing against each other in the Introductory Equitation class, Wright and Rollf claimed both National qualifying spots, placing 1st and 2nd.
Powell competed in the Novice Equitation division, earning a respectable 6th place in a deep class of quality riders.
"Maleia, Nalleli, and Elizabeth have worked hard all season, and it showed in the arena at Zones," said Hunt Coach Sara Jamison. "They all put in great rides, and it's exciting to have two moving on to Nationals next month!"
