Strong showing for cheer and dance team at Region VI competition

The Colby Community College cheer and dance team traveled to Overland Park for the Region VI Cheer & Dance Team Competition at Johnson County Community College on March 12.

CCC placed third in the cheerleading small co-ed division and eighth in hip-hop dance. Individually, sophomore Bailey Brenn topped 11 other contestants to win the solo dance division.

Coach Ashly Albers said the team practices for nearly two hours every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 5:45 a.m. and on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

"For the second time at the Region Six Cheer and Dance Team Competition, I couldn't be more proud of this team and their performances," she said. "All the early mornings and hours of practice really paid off!"

The team's assistant coach is Mallory Green. Members are Erin Archer, Norton; Bailey Brenn, Colby; Diana Garcia, Bird City; Adrienne Hager, Norton; Haley Kelley, Topeka; Erin Kuehn, Minden, Neb.; Talia Lowry, Prairie View; Brooke Neiberger, Meriden; and Edger Valenzuela, Weskan.
