Game 1
The Trojans delivered a thrilling home opener victory, rallying late to defeat Lamar Community College, 8–7, behind a clutch comeback sparked by Anthony Deblois and a walk-off hit from Caden Clifford.
Colby jumped out to an early offensive rhythm, totaling 10 hits on the day. Jacob Mraz led the way at the plate with a dominant 4-for-5 performance, scoring twice, driving in a run, and adding a stolen base. Turner Zdunich also contributed offensively with two hits, including a double, and two RBIs, while Charlie Langford and Jake Brooks each crossed the plate in the win.
Trailing midway through the game, the Trojans found their spark in the fifth inning when Deblois launched a solo home run to ignite the comeback and shift the momentum in Colby's favor. The offense continued to apply pressure before Clifford delivered the game's biggest moment, driving in the winning run in the seventh inning for the walk-off victory.
On the mound, Zdunich got the start, tossing 3.1 innings with four strikeouts. The Trojans used a bullpen committee the rest of the way, with Robert Whitaker, Jaxon Nielsen, and Jake Lentz each seeing action before Brody Torkelson shut the door. Torkelson earned the win after throwing two scoreless innings and limiting Lamar's late chances.
Game 2
The Trojans capped off a dominant home-opening doubleheader with an 8–2 victory in game two, securing the day sweep behind a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching performance.
After winning the opener earlier in the day, Colby Community College carried its momentum into the second game, breaking things open with a three-run second inning before adding four more runs in the fourth to take control.
Matt Murray powered the Trojans offensively, finishing with a home run and two RBIs while scoring twice. Chase Kessler also delivered in key moments, driving in two runs, while Charlie Langford and Turner Zdunich each added an RBI. Colby totaled nine hits and showcased aggressive baserunning, recording five stolen bases, including two from Caden Clifford.
On the mound, Isaiah Sadorus earned the win with a strong start, striking out six over four innings while allowing just two runs. Thomas Loubier secured the victory in relief, tossing three scoreless innings and limiting Lamar's offense to preserve the lead. The Trojans pitching duo combined for seven strikeouts and held Lamar to just two runs in the contest.
With the win, Colby completed a home-opening doubleheader sweep and opened its home schedule in impressive fashion, combining timely hitting, aggressive play on the bases, and effective pitching throughout both games.
The Trojans will look to carry their momentum on the road as Colby travels to Lamar on Saturday (Feb. 14) to conclude the four-game series.
