Former Trojans pitchers selected in MLB draft
Braves select Leban; Hofmann picked by Cards
Two former Colby Community College Trojan pitchers were drafted Wednesday in the Major League Baseball player draft held in Secaucus, N.J.
Greg Leban, who played at CCC from 2015-17, was picked by the Atlanta Braves in the 31st round. Later, the St. Louis Cardinals selected 2019 Colby graduate Logan Hofmann in the 35th round.
While at CCC in 2017, Leban was a second-team Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference selection after posting a 6-3 record. The Bellevue, Wash., right-handed pitcher finished with a 4.05 ERA and struck out 65 batters in 66.2 innings.
After graduating from CCC, Leban transferred to Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Tenn. At 6-3 and 235-pounds, he had 83 strikeouts in 54 innings over his two seasons at APU. He was the Governors' setup man during his senior year and recorded 64 strikeouts in 36 innings while posting a 3.50 ERA.
In two seasons with the Trojans, Hofmann was a two-time KJCCC first team and Region VI first team selection. The 5-9, 160-pound, right-handed pitcher from Saskatchewan, Canada, was also the KJCCC western division Pitcher of the Year in 2019. In his sophomore campaign, he posted an 8-4 record and led the Jayhawk in strikeouts (128) and innings pitched (89.2). Earlier in the season, he signed with Division I Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La.

So we celebrate as a family today for two of our own. Both of these young men are well deserving and great representatives of our program and college."
